Carer Support
Carer support is offered to individuals who are caring for an elderly person in the community and/or who have a family member in residential care. The program has commenced in the Southern Region. Carer support sessions are held monthly and offer a combination of informal support and formal information and education sessions. It offers an opportunity for carers to share their experiences and to link into and create their own support networks in an environment that is responsive to their cultural and linguistic needs. Sessions include morning tea. It is proposed that the Program will end in May 2008, however it may be extended following the evaluation.
